Alfredo Valentin Cardona, age 70, beloved husband of JoAnna; loving father of Sophia; cherished companion of his dog Sam. Alfredo, born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico from humble beginnings, worked his way through school and graduated from the University Of Puerto Rico School Of Law. He later moved to Chicago and started a career as a Contract Specialist with the Department of Housing and Urban Development where he would spend nearly 40 years. He was a devoted brother, thoughtful uncle, treasured cousin and valued friend, he will be missed by many. He was a kind soul who had a compassion for all living creatures and cared for many neighborhood animals and always enjoyed a good conversation about politics and current events. Visitation Tuesday, July 12, from 4 to 9 pm; funeral service Wednesday, July 13, 10 am at Lawrence Funeral Home, 4800 N. Austin Ave., Chicago.
