Estrella E. Caburnay, née Escobar, age 74; beloved wife of 33 years to the late Abelardo C. Caburnay; loving mother of Bernadette (Rafed Hmadi), Christina (Phu) Lu and David (Theresa Lam); cherished grandmother of Noel Serrano, Charlotte Lu, Liam Lu, James Lu, Ramy Hmadi and Caleb Lu; loving sister and cherished sister-in-law of many.
Estrella was a devoted woman of faith who found great joy in attending church and singing in the choir. Her faith, family and the simple joys of life were at the heart of who she was. In her younger years, Estrella enjoyed playing softball, and throughout her life she remained someone who loved being active, creative and surrounded by the people she loved.
Estrella was a wonderful cook who took great pride in preparing meals for her family. She had a natural gift for making people feel cared for, often showing her love through the food she prepared and the time she spent with those closest to her. She was also crafty with her hands and especially enjoyed needlepoint, creating beautiful pieces with patience and care.
Estrella shared a special and playful bond with her late husband, Abelardo. Abelardo was a prankster, and Estrella was always happy to be in on the joke. Together they shared countless inside jokes, laughter and memories that their family will always treasure. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a way of bringing lightness and laughter to those around her.
She also enjoyed getting lost in romance novels and watching reality television and sports alongside her children. These quiet moments became treasured memories and reflected Estrella’s appreciation for the little things that made life special.
Above all, Estrella was a loving mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend. Her warmth, humor, faith, creativity and generous spirit touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends, who will carry her memory in their hearts and continue to share the stories and laughter she gave them.
