Obituary

Eugenia (Jean, Genie) Fidoruk was born on April 27, 1946 in Germany. She passed away peacefully on February 21, 2023 surrounded by family and friends. Eugenia grew up in Humbolt Park, graduated from Josephinum Academy High School and went on to obtain an associate degree in bookkeeping from Wright Junior College. She worked as a bookkeeper for her entire life, retiring at age 62 to become the full-time caregiver for her mother. Eugenia devotedly cared for her mother for 8 years.  Eugenia lived in Jefferson Park most of her life, but most recently resided in her condo in Elk Grove Village, until her battle with cancer required months of hospitalization and physical therapy.

Eugenia was a woman of many interests and talents, which included baking Christmas cookies, traveling, reading and gardening. Her numerous needlework pieces and woven fabrics are unequaled works of art. Eugenia was a member of the American Needlepoint Guild.

Eugenia was a doting aunt to her nephews Brian and Kevin, attending all their many athletic and academic activities. A most compassionate individual, Eugenia loved all animals, but had a particular fondness for dogs and cats, always bringing treats to the pets of her friends and family.

Eugenia was preceded in death by her parents, Pelagia and Antoni Fidoruk. She is survived by her brother, George Fidoruk; nephews Brian (Mallory) Fidoruk, Kevin (Kayla) Fidoruk; great-nephew Harvey Michael Fidoruk. Lifelong friends, Liz Fidoruk (Dave Friedman), and Felicia and John Przekota.
