Heng Sok (香財喜), businesswoman, culinary entrepreneur, philanthropist, investor, and community leader, passed away peacefully at home on August 22, 2023. Loving wife to Kim Sok, she was a role model and mother to her six daughters and three sons, and a fierce inspiration to her eighteen grandchildren. From her humble beginnings as a street hawker of kway tiew in the Cambodian city of Battambang, she lived a rich, storied life that was filled with warmth and moments of incredible courage. Leaving her mark on Chicago's vibrant Asian food scene, Southeast Asian Chinese community, and her homeland of Cambodia, Heng Sok (香財喜) will be remembered for her stories, her wit, and her tireless capacity  to nourish the hearts of those who loved her.
