Kenneth Kangwen Tso, 78, a man whose life was defined by unwavering dedication, generosity, and an extraordinary ability to face challenges with grace and ingenuity, passed away peacefully at his home in Chicago on April 21, 2026. Born on November 2, 1947, in China, Kenneth’s journey led him to the United States where he built a life grounded in love, hard work, and adventure.
Kenneth's career was marked by remarkable expertise as a skilled structural engineer, specializing in the structural integrity of commercial warehouse buildings. His attention to detail and precision ensured the safety and durability of many important structures. Beyond engineering, Kenneth shared a passion for entrepreneurship, running a laundry and dry cleaning business alongside his beloved wife, Herscheleen "Tina" Tso. Together, they created more than a business; they nurtured a partnership grounded in mutual support and kindness.
Those privileged to know Kenneth remember him as a true jack of all trades, a man who could expertly fix almost anything with a quiet confidence and ingenuity that inspired those around him. Always willing to lend a hand, Kenneth was selfless with his time and talents, tirelessly helping others solve problems with a generosity of spirit that left a lasting mark on his community.
His zest for life extended beyond the walls of work and duty. Kenneth and Tina shared many cherished memories traveling both across the country and abroad. Their adventures took them to the enchanting landscapes of Europe, the serene beauty of beaches around the world, and the refreshing sights of countless waterfalls. Together, they embarked on several cruises, relishing the joy of discovery and companionship that these journeys afforded. These times were a testament to the warmth and companionship that characterized their marriage.
Before his remarkable career and business pursuits, Kenneth answered the call of service to his adopted country. Drafted into the US Army as a young man, he served honorably until complications from a prior injury necessitated his honorable discharge. This period of his life reflected his courage and commitment to duty, qualities that would remain central throughout his lifetime.
Kenneth's passing leaves a profound void for his loving wife, Tina, who stood faithfully by his side during his life and final moments. Their unwavering bond exemplified a rare and beautiful love that endured through decades of shared dreams, resilience, and joy.
Visitation to honor Kenneth’s life will take place on April 24, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Lawrence Funeral Home, located at 4800 N Austin Ave, Chicago, Illinois.
