Krystian Benjamin Matura, 79, of Chicago passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 14, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Krystian was the loving husband of Krystyna for 49 years; cherished father of Agnes (Tony) Jackson, Kati (Darius) Cincan, Sylvia (Jim) Ruzicka; proud Dziadzio to Kylie, Alyssa, Benjamin, Juliana, Milo, Alex; fond brother-in-law to Gabrysia; warm uncle to Blanka; tender great-uncle to Artur.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Stefan and Bronislawa Matura, and brother, Zygmunt Matura.

Krystian's joy of dancing and lighting up the room when he walked in will now live on through fond memories. He will foremost be remembered as someone who always showed his family and close friends unconditional love. The next time someone shares a joke, regardless of appropriateness, Krystian will be remembered.

Krystian was a very hard worker, being a first generation immigrant who moved to America from Poland by himself with just a few dollars in his pocket as a young man. Shortly after arriving, he met the love of his life, and despite only knowing each other a brief time, Krystyna and he were married and began their family. He entered into the trade of tailoring, where he excelled for over 50 years. He owned his own tailor shop at one point and worked at other various shops, most notability creating vestments for the Chicago Archdiocese.

Visitation will be Friday, October 20, 2023 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral prayers Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 10:15 a.m. from Lawrence Funeral Home, 4800 N. Austin Ave., Chicago, IL to St. Constance Church for Mass of the Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., interment to follow at Maryhill Cemetery, Niles, IL.
