Nereida Ruiz née Ortiz ,79, passed away in her home on July 14, 2022. Beloved wife of Jose A. for over thirty-five years. Adoring mother to Pedro J. Castro Jr (Nora), Carlos and Edwin (Annyvette) Castro. Cherished grandmother to Jeffrey, Carlos Jr, Tatiana, Edwin Jr, Peter, Tara, Blake, Melanie, Jessica, Jonathan and Emily; great grandmother of twenty. Adored sister of twelve siblings.  Nereida will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family and her church, Rejoice Ministries, where she sang in the choir. She was an avid gardener and collected unicorns.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 from 3-8pm at Rejoice Ministries, 6120 N Harlem Ave, Chicago, IL 60631. Funeral Service will be held at the church on Thursday, July 21, 2022. Interment to follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Chicago IL. For more information please call 773-736-2300.
