Philip James Roth Jr., 95, of Chicago, was taken up to heaven on February 26, 2016. Mr. Roth was a proud WWII, U. S. Army Veteran who was awarded the Purple Heart after being injured. He met the love of his life, Joan (Wallace), a U.S. Army Corps Nurse, while recovering. During their 69 years of marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Roth provided their children with a daily example of what it means to be a family and what it means to love. After the war, Mr. Roth worked for the Social Security Administration, working his way up to Assistant Director of Operations for the Chicago area. He is survived by his loving and beloved wife, Joan; their seven children Margaret (Robert) Lyons, Philip (Diane) III, Marilyn (Donald) Kloth, William (Ann Marie), Karen (Stephen) Starke, Michael (Ann ), and Laurie (Mark) Sabas; loving grandfather of 18; and beloved great-grandfather of 27. He was preceded in death by his parents Philip Sr. and Anna (Abel), his sister Coletta Posemato, and his brother Richard.
