Obituary

Ronald Peter Bintz, born March 20, 1938, Chicago, died softly early on Sunday, August 10th, 2014 at Good Shepherd Hospital, Barrington, after saying his goodbyes to family. He was a long time resident of Nagle Avenue in Norwood Park but he had recently moved to Lake Barrington Woods. Until he retired, he was a Cook County Deputy to Sheriff Elrod at the 2600 California, Daley Center, Rolling Meadows and Skokie Courthouses and participated in the Sheriff's Honor Guards. Early in his career, he was a patrolman at Island Lake Police Department. He worked at DeLuxe Check Printers for over 5 years before he entered the service. He also worked Security at Marriott Hotels-O'Hare.
Ron was proud of his service as PFC US Army, Ft Hood and with the HELL ON WHEELS 2nd Armored Division, 1st Field Artillery BN 2nd Platoon, A Battery, 16th Artillery, at Camp El Paso in Korea, along the DMZ. He achieved various sharpshooter and expert awards and was Honorably Discharged in December, 1965.
He married Miss Beverly Huck on June 15, 1963 whisking her to their reception in a horse drawn stage coach. He received his Illinois State GED in 1985 and continued his education throughout his career, including CPR and EMT certifications early in the development of rescue departments with Lakes Region Rescue Squad. Ron enjoyed collecting and gardening, hunting with bow and rifle, fishing, camping and traveling with his family and friends. In his early years, he was active with the Wonder Lake Ski Club. He was a member of the Illinois Sheriffs' Association, Amvets Post 17, and Chief at Arms for a newly formed Veterans Group at Lake Barrington Woods.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Beverly (Huck), parents Peter and Marie (Binsfeld) Bintz, siblings Frances (John) Valentine, Richard (Luella Huening) Bintz, sister-in-law, Catherine Nielson. He is survived by sister-in-laws Janice (Huck) Zidek, Luella, cousin Jean Creatura and by many nieces and nephews, their children and old and new friends.
Visitation will be at 9 A.M. on Saturday, August 16th, before Mass at St. Cornelius Church, 5205 N. Lieb Avenue, Chicago. After 10 A.M. Mass, burial will be at Maryhill Cemetery, 8600 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Niles. The family requests that memorials be made to your local Fire and Rescue Departments in his name. All the arrangements are made by Lawrence Funeral Home.
