Thomascine "Tammy" Crawford of Arlington Heights, formally of Chicago, passed away on November 14 th , 2020 after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Born November 29 th , 1964 to John and Marlene Crawford, nee Rizzi, of Chicago. Tammy was a devoted daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, partner, cousin, coworker and friend to many.
She is survived by her loving mother, Marlene Crawford. Also, by her partner Nancy Niewelt whom she shared her love of life, photography and travel, her aunts Joan Rizzi & Carol St. John, her cousins Joseph Rizzi, Donna St. John, Scott St. John, Vicki (Scott) Weyer, Sherri Gurney, Tyrone Restivo, Joe Restivo, Brenda Altmann & Bart Badsing as well as many second cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, John "Sonny" Crawford Jr., her brother Johnny Crawford III, her grandparents, John and Victoria (Kida) Crawford & Joseph and Rose (Cascio) Rizzi, her aunts and uncles, Paul & Barbara Rizzi, Victoria "Bonnie" Restivo, Robert "Bob" Crawford, Linda Symbol, Jessie "Butch" Crawford, Clarence "Sonny" St. John and her cousin Steven St. John.
Tammy was godmother to many and always enjoyed interacting with kids. She loved animals and adored her cats "Tweety" and "Goofy". She enjoyed riding horses, riding motorcycles, fishing and golfing, which she did extensively when camping at her vacation home at Woodsmoke Ranch in Seneca, IL. She also enjoyed trips to Clearwater Beach Florida watching the dolphins swim, taking long boat rides, capturing moments behind the lens and spending time with friends and family. Being from Chicago, she also loved going to the Kris Kringle market, festivals, and attended as many concerts as possible.
Her idol was Elvis Presley and she collected all kinds of his memorabilia, enjoyed attending tribute band performances, impersonator shows, touring Graceland in Memphis and visiting Elvis museums across the country. She was also an avid collector of Precious Moments figurines and tie dye shirts.
She held various jobs, most focused on helping others. She worked at Plunkett Catering with her uncle Paul Rizzi and Richard Chmiel. Allstate Arena as a stand manager, and held many positions at Walgreens for over 30 years.
A celebration of life luncheon will be held on October 3
rd
, 2021. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Park in Northlake at a later date.
